Myth, Symbols, and Meaning
2007 Spring History Conference
Hosted by the Beta Upsilon Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta
University of North Dakota, Grand Forks
Deadline for submission: December 1st, 2006.
The Beta Upsilon chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is hosting the
2nd annual history conference in Grand Forks at the
University of North Dakota Memorial Union, second floor,
on Friday, March 2nd, 2007, from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
The Conference Committee welcomes all submissions from
both undergraduate and graduate students, particularly
papers that might focus on the following themes:
* The Mediterranean World
* Twentieth-Century Military History
* Slave History and the American South
* Early Modern Europe: Witchcraft and Folklore
* Myth and Symbol of the Canadian and American West
* Gender, Production, and Consumption on the 19th-century
Northern Plains
* The Ecological Indian: Native- and Euro-American Points
of Trade
The Conference Committee welcomes 1-to-2 page proposals
from undergraduate and graduate students of history, and
related disciplines, and will assemble panels based on
submissions. Papers are to adhere to formatting
guidelines of respective disciplines.
Paper length: 10-to-12 pages.
The Beta Upsilon History Conference offers a unique
opportunity to generate and stimulate conversations
between institutions within North Dakota and on the
northern Plains.
