Statement from UND President Charles Kupchella
Relating to Fans Wearing Vulgar, Obscene or Racially Clothing

Persons wearing obscene, vulgar, or racially insensitive clothing will not be admitted to University of North Dakota sporting events, President Charles E. Kupchella said today.

He said his office has received complaints about t-shirts which portray a vulgar and obscene image. "This shirt is disgusting and reprehensible and I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would sell such an item, let alone wear it," Kupchella said. He said staff at the Alerus Center and the Engelstad arena have been asked and they have agreed to deny entrance or to eject anyone wearing the garment.

On UND website, Saturday October 6, 2001, after t-shirts began to be sold at Down Under portraying a Native American having sex with a bison.
