About Us

Program Introduction

UNDerstanding Credit Program was initiated in 2001 and has been sponsored by US Bank. The Department of Finance is the host of the Program. Currently the Program is managed by the Financial Services Institute.

The purpose of the Program is to provide credit management information to UND students, free of charge, by other students. Qualified students undergo training sessions to develop the ability to present general information with regard to credit management and answer questions from students. Professional counselors along with Finance instructors at UND will provide the training.

Events will be held regularly on-campus where the student credit specialists give presentations to students who are having credit related financial distress or simply interested in getting some tips on how to manage their credit.

Main topics include (but not limited to):
- Credit record build-up and credit tips
- Identity theft
- Student loan management
- Debt management
