Piano Literature

Course Description:

This class is designed for undergraduate and graduate piano principals.  During the term, students will be studying piano repertoire from the late Renaissance to the 20th Century.  Students are expected to present weekly seminars where  composers' styles and schools may be broadly discussed.  In addition,  some specific genres of the piano literature (i.e. nocturnes, suites, sonatas, etc.) will be covered as well.  Background information and a thorough analysis will serve as support for arguments.

Evaluation:

50%  Student seminars
25%  Midterm Exam (March 6, room 204)
25%  Final Performance
