6. Looking down on the Kaibab Trail where it descends the Redwall Limestone

In the foreground, the main cliffs are formed by the Redwall Limestone at the top and the Temple Butte Limestone below. Below that, the Muav Limestone forms scree slopes and a few small bands of more resistant rock. Still lower (on the right side-lower part of the photo) the Bright Angel Sh. has weathered to produce the nearly flat Tonto Platform.
