Conference Schedule
The conference schedule is subject to change. All activities
will take place on the second floor of the Memorial Union on the University of
North Dakota campus. All eleven talks will be in the Fred Orth Lecture Bowl.
The banquet and the session on Future Directions will take place in the
River Valley Room and the Sioux Room, respectively. Refreshments will be
available in the Sioux Room throughout most of the conference.
The Memorial Union is building 72 on the
campus
map.
Poster Session
The conference poster session will be in the Sioux Room of
the Memorial Union. Space will be available for speakers and
participants to post abstracts, short papers, and similar items.
Conference Dinner
All speakers and participants are invited to a free evening dinner in the
River Valley Room of the Memorial Union at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 27.
Refreshments will be available in the Sioux Room of the Memorial Union
throughout most of the conference.
Internet Access
Conference speakers and participants may access the internet at the
computer labs located on the third floor and lower level of the
Memorial Union as well as on the third floor of the Chester Fritz Library.
The Chester Fritz Library is building 29 on the
campus
map and is located about one block west of the Memorial
Union on University Avenue.
All of these labs have Web browsers as well as telnet capability.
Signs at each lab indicate that the labs are to be used
only by University of North Dakota faculty and students. The university
computer lab manager, however, has granted Midwest Geometry Conference
speakers and participants permission to use the above three labs for
internet access on April 26, 27, and 28, 2002. The lab manager will alert
the lab monitors to this fact. The Chester Fritz lab and the lab in the
lower level of the Union are closed on Sunday mornings.
Warm-Up Talks
Larry Peterson will present two very
elementary warm-up talks aimed at beginning graduate students.
These talks will take place on Thursday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 23.
Both talks will take place at 3:30 P.M. in Room 309 of Witmer Hall
and are entitled Foundations of Modern Geometry.
These talks will cover a few of the basic terms and
concepts that will arise during the conference.
Bill Schwalm will also present an introductory talk entitled Physics and Knots at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, April 22, in Room 115, Witmer Hall.
Announcements posted in Witmer Hall will provide additional information on all of these talks.
