Announcements

Our final exam will take place on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. in the usual classroom. The exam will be comprehensive with an emphasis on Chapter 6.

There is a typographical error in the statement of Proposition 3.21 in our textbook. In Part (c), the first inequality should be “>”, not “<”. Specifically, Part (c) should read as follows:
If angle P > angle Q and angle Q is congruent to angle R, then angle P > angle R.
For each assignment, do the “Exercises” (not the “Review Exercises”), unless noted otherwise.

  21. Chapter 6, "Exercises": 2, 3, 4, 15
    Due December 5, 2005
Note: I have added problems to this assignment. This assignment originally included just one problem. It now includes four problems.
Hints: In Problem 15, do not give any proofs. Feel free to browse through the book and use things you find. In Problem 15, you may use the results of exercises even if you don't actually do the exercises. Include at least 15 statements in the list that you make in your solution to Problem 15.

  22. Chapter 6, "Exercises": 8
    Due December 8, 2005
Notes: Skip the part following the hint. Assume you have done Exercise 7.
Notes: The last regular meeting of our class will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2005. The last homework problem is due the following day. Come to my office to hand it in. If I am not available, give it to the secretary in the Mathematics Department. If you will not be around the campus on December 8, then please hand the problem in before then. Also, remember that we have the final exam the following week.
