| General Comments: | Based on the traditional Latin carol "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," this 1996 tone poem has some beautiful phrasing. Because of the Lento tempo breathing is the challenge here. The melody is introduced by the trombones and carried on by the clarinets, baritone, and horns. As the piece gradually increases in intensity there are some solo line opportunities. Though the woodwinds are most active rhythmically, the piece should pose no real threat to the developed junior high band. | |
