| General Comments: | Concert Piece for Band is an imaginative work for band. This work is a "battle of the bands" all by itself. Tubb writes a melody that he calls " the establishment music" and also has conflicting melodies that are battling for attention. This piece reccomends many instruments that are unussual for most bands; violin' guitar, battle drum, and fife. Though they are recommended, they are not crucial, their parts can be cued in other instruments. Quotations of Bringing in the Sheaves and a polka played by a piano will make this piece interesting. Mixed meter and tempo changes could be potential problems. |
