| General Comments: | This piece originally written for the Russian Imperial Opera brings the nostalgic feeling of the ballet to your band room. There are four movements which are called March, Arab Dance, Trepak, and Waltz of the Flowers. The interplay of the brass and woodwind colors create a good blend and an opportunity for musicians to listen across the band. The pieces should be familiar to the students, but they have complicated areas that will challenge the players. There are solos in both the brass and woodwind sections to show off one or a group of students. This piece is good for introducing symphonic works and the ballet and how they relate to band music. | |
