| General Comments: | This is based on Tolken's Lord of the Rings. The beginning of the piece gives a dark mood. Through the piece, the slumbering Ents, are aroused and the work builds to the "March of the Ents". Strange metric changes occur, such as 3/1, 2/4 and 1/4. There is a jazz feel to it, and a strong percussion section is needed. Also, some singing is involved, in Tolken's Elven language. This is a difficult piece, and should be attempted by an excellent high school band. | |
