| General Comments: | Satiric Dances is not only good music, but it is also fun to play. The composer has used a variety of attractive melodies, and has incorporated them into three movements, fast, slow, fast. The music can be deceivingly difficult in certain spots, due to syncopated rhythms and odd intervals. Chromatic scales are a large part of the structure of this piece, especially in the third movement. The percussion parts are limited, yet important. The more sudden dynamic contrast put into this work, the better it sounds. It is a very exciting and energetic piece of music! | |
