| General Comments: | An addition to American audiences since 1975, this piece helped bring the European march style to us. the set-up of this march is the opposite of a Sousa march, with a soft beginning and ending, and a fanfare - like trio section. The tempo is moderate, the key changes a few times. Two picolo and two oboe players are needed, so be sure to have pitch-minded musicians on these parts; they are isolated, and very exposed! A refreshing change from the typicla Sousa march. | |
