| General Comments: | Published in 1957, this suite arrangement for band consists of a light German dance by Franz Joseph Haydn, a minuet by George Telemann, and a stately sounding trumpet tune by Henry Purcell. This piece is simply a delightful representation of late-Baroque, early-Classical styles. A beginning band would learn a great deal about these two style periods from the 17th and 18th centuries. There are many repeated phrases that are expanded rhythmically or melodically throughout each section. | |
