| General Comments: | This march was written in 1876 for a Slavonic benefit concert during the war between Turkey and Serbia. This arrangement closely parallels the original score. Much of the melodic material is carried by the woodwinds. The upper woodwinds and horns will get a particularly extensive workout rhythmically with triplet eighths and sixteenths. Outbursts throughout the piece draw considerable attention to the brass section. Dynamic intensity is at its greatest during the Finale where the entire ensemble reaches the great climax. | |
