| General Comments: | This is a very delightful English folk tune that might be recognized from Ralph Vaughn Williams'English Folk Song Suite. The melody begins softly in the woodwind voices and ventures throughout all sections of the band, leading to a tutti section at the end of the piece. This piece is a good introduction to mixed meter, alternating between 2/4 and 3/4 time. The scoring has sufficient doublings so that no single part is exposed. This is a great addition to any concert! | |
