General Comments: This is a good overture for Level 1 bands. It begins with a solo doubled on cornet and baritone, and is followed by a tutti section, with many parts doubled. There is not an excess of dynamic markings, so both the conductor and the students are free to be expressive and creative with their musicality. Syncopation and independence are at a minimum. This is a good overture for students who are still working on the very basic principles of ensemble performance.
