| General Comments: | Caccia and Chorale by Clifton Williams will challenge your best high school bands. The piece is tough mainly because of the meters. There are sections in 3/2, 9/4, 4/4, 6/4, and 2/2. This will be tough mainly at the changes. The piece starts out with a Bravura like fanfare in the brass the it goes into the Caccia with the dance melody in the low voices. The Chorale section starts with a statement of the chorale in four voices, trumpet 1 and 2, horn, and trombone. After this statement the woodwinds take over followed by a beautiful horn solo. This leads into the ending section with just one player on a part. This will require having strong section leaders throughout the band. |
