Title: Bugle Boy March
Level: 1.5
Composer/Arranger:Robert E. Foster
Publisher: Wingert-Jones Music, Inc. : Achievement Series
Classification: March
Instrumentation: Full
Source: Popplers Music Inc.
General Comments: This is a good march for young bands. This piece uses the Eb and Ab scales and arpegios in a variety of different ways. There are also different styles used throught the piece. For example in the beginning there is a unison trumpet/cornet feature and when the rest of the band enters they are playing lagato passages. The range of the piece is moderate, and although not all that difficult it should provide a good example of contrasting styles. On the front cover there is also a history, rhythm studies style marlings, and more indicated that gives the director what elements are being used in the piece and some idea's on how to present them to the class.
