| General Comments: | This piece is one of "Four Sacred Pieces" for SATB chorus that was first performed in 1898 and was to be Verdi's last published music. The work is based on Verdi's scala enigmatica (C, D-Flat, E, F-Sharp, G-Sharp, A-Sharp, B, and C). The theme with the scale begins in the basses and eventually grows into the rest of the band. This sacred piece would be a very dynamic and emotional piece to program. | |
