| General Comments: | Appalachian Overture is a work for band based on the tune Barbara Ellen. Throughout the piece there are anumber of key and tempo changes where the melody comes back each time. The first time the melody is played very slowly by the flutes. Later in the piece is a nice trumpet solo where the trumpet is accompanied only by a few instruments. There is some doubling of parts but they are mostly independant. This may challenge more timid players.. |
