Title: Andante et Allegro
Level: Grade III/IV
Composer/Arranger: Joseph Edouard Barat
Publisher: Southern Music Co.
Classification: Solo
Instrumentation: Full
Source: Musical score, Band Music Notes, Popplers recording
General Comments: Composed in 1935 for students at the Paris Conservatory, this solo (originally with piano) requires a great deal of technical proficiency on behalf of the soloist. The piece opens with several slow passages of triplet sixteenth and thirty-second notes. The piece is expressive and lively and remains one of the most-performed solos of both trombone and euphonium players.
