Healthy UND is a coalition of students, faculty and staff interested in promoting health and wellness on campus.
The Healthy UND Coalition was formed over ten years ago and today continues to serve as a communication and coordination network for all health and wellness issues on campus.
While the Healthy UND Coalition focuses on current health and wellness issues, Healthy UND 2020 focuses on the future and the creation of a long-range action plan to address the leading health and wellness issues that negatively impact student academic success and retention.
During the 2009/2010 academic year, planning was conducted through a presidentially appointed steering committee. During the 2010/2011 academic year action-planning was accomplished through five priority action groups. The Healthy UND Call to Action Report was completed during the Fall of 2011. In 2012 the Coalition continues to use the goals, objectives, and strategies from the report at their guide while creating a campus culture in which healthy choices are the norm.
This innovative planning process is unique among university campuses
and is modeled after Healthy People 2020.
The Healthy UND meeting agenda for the 2011-2012 year will be as follows:
RESCHEDULED:
Friday, April 20, 2012 12:00pm-1:00pm Swanson Room 16-18 (Focus: Yearly Wrap-Up)
“We want students to be successful at UND and maximize their learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. A key to success is for students to learn how to make good decisions about their own health, whether it is about diet, exercise, sleep or making responsible decisions about alcohol and other drugs. We want students to be safe and healthy so they are able to be productive learners. By making safe and healthy choices, students will learn good habits which should carry with them throughout their lives. We are here to provide quality education about these decisions, excellent staff, services, and facilities, and continued support as students explore their healthy choices.”
Lori Reesor, the Vice President of Student Affairs is committed to the general welfare and vitality of the institution and is a primary liaison between Student Affairs and other major components of the University. She is an advocate for students and seeks to create a positive learning environment for all students especially outside the classroom.
