UND SPLITS NCC ROAD TRIP, HEAD TO BEMIDJI STATE
The Fighting Sioux volleyball team split its matches over the weekend. The
Sioux outlasted host St. Cloud State 15-7, 15-12, 10-15, 10-15 15-7 last
Friday night but was topped at Minnesota State, Mankato 13-15, 15-12,
0-15, 11-15 on Saturday. Earlier in the week, the Sioux rolled past
Minnesota-Crookston 15-5, 15-12, 15-7. UND is 12-8 overall and 3-5 in
the North Central Conference.
Last Week: Against Minnesota-Crookston, Kristi Rasmussen (Sr., West
Fargo, N.D.) led the team with nine kills to put her over the 1,000 career
kill mark. Rasmussen also led the team with six digs. Michelle Dean (Jr.,
Grand Forks, N.D.) had eight kills and Josie Fink (So., Wahpeton, N.D.)
added six.
Rasmussen and Dean led the way in the win at St. Cloud State. Rasmussen
paced the Sioux with 13 kills while Dean added 12 on the night. Jill
Effhauser (Fr., East Grand Forks, Minn.) led the team with 13 digs and
Rasmussen added 11. Dean recorded one solo block and five block
assists. Stef Snyder (Fr., Alexandria, Minn.) had 37 assists. In the loss at
MSU, Dean had 14 kills and Rasmussen had 12 kills and 12 digs.
Team Leaders: Kristi Rasmussen leads the team with 153 kills and 219
digs. Kristal Guyda (Jr., Brandon, Man.) has 139 kills while Josie Fink has
133 and Michelle Dean has 125. Stef Snyder has 339 assists on the year.
Jill Effhauser has 125 digs while Kelly Johnson has 124 on the season.
Dean leads the team with 16 solo blocks and 54 block assists while Laura
Birk (Fr., Wells, Minn.) has 13 solo blocks and 52 block assists.
In the Record Books: Kristi Rasmussen continues to move up in the
UND record books. Rasmussen is fifth with 1,030 career kills, fifth in digs
with 1,198 and third in attempt with 3,277. Stef Snyder set a new school
record for assists in a four-game match with 61 assists against Morningside
on Oct. 2.
As a Team: The Sioux are averaging 11.49 kills per game and have a
.186 attack percentage on the season. UND averages 14.14 digs per game
and 2.48 total blocks a game.
On the Docket: The Sioux continue with their road trip as they travel to
Bemidji State for a non-conference match on Tuesday, Oct. 12. The Sioux
return to NCC play at South Dakota State and Augustana, Friday and
Saturday, Oct. 15-16. The next home match is Oct. 19, as the Sioux host
non-conference opponent Northern State.
