Resident Teacher Program in Special Education

In eleven years of the program (since Fall 1997):

  • 131/190 (69%) RT's have been employed as special education teachers in 39 school districts in the state of ND: Belcourt (2), Bismarck (2), Bottineau, Central Valley (3), Devils Lake (2), Dunseith, Enderlin, Fargo (14), Fort Totten (2), Grafton (3), Grand Forks (39), Gwinner, Harvey, Hebron, Hillsboro, Horace, Jamestown (7), Kensal, Killdeer (2), Larimore (2), Lisbon, Litchville/Marion, Lonetree, Mandan (5), Manvel (2), Mayville, Milnor, Minto, Northwood (2), Park River, Portland (2), Rolla, Rugby, Sawyer, Thompson, Valley City, Wahpeton, West Fargo (17), Williston (2).
  • 54 RT's have been employed as special education teachers in 14 states outside of North Dakota: Alaska, Arizona (3), Colorado (1), Florida (1), Idaho (1), Iowa (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (29), Montanta (2), North Carolina(1), Ohio (1), South Dakota (2), Washington (6), Wisconsin (1), Wyoming (2).
  • Thus, 185/190 RT's (97%) who completed the program have been employed as special education teachers.

Note that 91 different schools in the state of ND have received special education support from the RT's for one full year, even though the district may not have hired the RT after that year (e.g., no position available, lack of funds, competition for a position).
