Elementary Education Undergraduate Program
TEAM
TEAM (Teacher Education through Applied Methods) is a 14-hour block of methods courses in reading and writing, science, math, and social studies, and includes a field experience in an actual classroom. Each TEAM (two sections are offered during a semester) meets from 8 a.m. to 12, Monday through Friday.
APPLYING TO TEAM: You have to apply for TEAM in order to include it on your schedule. It is your responsibility to contact the Elementary Education office the semester before you wish to take TEAM in order to fill out an application. Applications are available for two weeks starting the last Monday in March for the next fall semester and the first Monday in November for the next spring semester.
PREREQUISITES FOR TEAM: In order to enter TEAM you must have: (1) Grade of "C" or better in all TEAM prerequisites: T&L 250, T&L 315, T&L 328 or T&L 329, T&L 335; (2) a 2.75 overall GPA; (3) a 2.75 GPA minimum in the major; (4) completed Math 277; and (5) been formally admitted to the program.
Note for Transfer Students: College algebra (Math 103), or equivalent, or higher level math course, or score high enough on CLEP subject exam or score on PTP indicating placement in Trigonometry or higher math is a prerequisite to TEAM.
TIME-LOAD FOR TEAM: Since TEAM is a 14-hour block of courses offered in the morning, you may be able to take another course in the afternoon or evening without overloading your schedule. However, you need to remember that TEAM is basically four courses, each with its own requirements for out-of-class study-time. If, in addition to taking TEAM, you are working at a job or have a number of other obligations, you should seriously consider your time-load.
