Relationship to the University and the Sociology Department
*The institute is located within the Department of Sociology at the
University of North Dakota , and it serves as an adjunct to the mission.
the institute is operated by the faculty of the department who are
members of the social science research institute. Nothing should be
done under the name of the institute that should in any way conflict
with the policies and procedures of the university of north dakota or
the department of sociology. Research conducted or facilitated
under the authority of the institute should adhere to the University
policies regarding the protection of human subjects and other
relevant regulations.
Purpose of the Institute
*In keeping with the research mission of the University of North Dakota, one primary goal of the institute shall be to stimulate the growth of social sciences knowledge through basic and applied social science research. In keeping with the teaching mission of the University of North Dakota, the other primary goal of the institute shall be to provide undergraduate and graduate students in the social sciences with an opportunity to contribute to and benefit from social science research conducted under its auspices. As an organization, the institute is to facilitate, and where possible, carry out basic and applied social science research conducted by faculty members and students (under the guidance of a faculty advisor) at the University of North Dakota.
