9/10/08 - - Associated General Contractors Award Scholarships
The Associated General Contractors of ND has funded civil engineeringscholarships at UND since 1964 in the name of John Jardine, the first organizer of the scholarship program. Jardine and AGC started the program as a way to invest in the future of their industry by giving young people and educational opportunity they may not otherwise afford. In 1988 AGC established another scholarship to honor long-time member Walt Swingen. 6/24/08 - - Generous Gift Provides New Opportunities for Chemical Engineering Students
Grand Forks, N.D. – June 24, 2008 - The University of North Dakota Foundation and UND President Charles Kupchella announced today that Ann and Norman Hoffman, ’59, of Waconia, Minn., have donated more than $2 million to support UND, specifically the School of Engineering and Mines/Chemical Engineering Department. The Hoffman’s gift will establish The Ann and Norman Hoffman Chair in National Defense/Energetics within the School.

10/2/08 - - Larry Jodsaas, '62 BSEE to receive Sioux Award at Homecoming 2008
Larry Jodsaas, ’62 - His current involvements include board memberships of Normandale Community College Foundation, the National Alzheimer’s Disease Association and Minnesota High Tech Association. At the height of his very successful career, he served as chair of Polarfab, a manufacturing company in Bloomington, Minn. He had previously served as a vice president with Control Data and owner of VTC Inc. The Jodsaas Center for Engineering Leadership and Entrepreneurship within the UND School of Engineering and Mines will be named in honor of his contributions to the School.
