Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

May 8, 2003

 

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Thursday, May 8, in Room 305, Twamley Hall. Doug Marshall presided.

 

2. Those present were Connie Borboa, Judy Bruce, Mary Cutler, Ray Diez, Daniel Erickson, Jim Haskins, Nancy Krogh, Evelyn Labun, Doug Marshall and Tom Zeidlik.

 

3. Jim Haskins moved to approve the minutes from the April 10 meeting. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

4. Jim Haskins and Ray Diez presented the Master of Science in Technology Education new academic program request and IT 510, 511, 512, 513, 520, 521, 522, 523, 532, and 533 new course requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

5. Jim Haskins moved to remove the Nurs 597 course change request from the table. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously. 

 

Evelyn Labun moved to approve the Nurs 597 course change request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

6. Jim Haskins moved to table Minor in Mathematics for Elementary Education new program request and Math 416 course change request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

7. Jim Haskins moved to table Geog 452 course change request, Geog 378 new course request and Geography Community and Urban Development Emphasis change in program requirements request. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

8. Doug Marshall presented Law 440, 442, 450 and 452 course change requests and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

9. Evelyn Labun presented Art 494 new course request and Bachelor of Fine Arts change in program requirements request and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

10. Daniel Erickson presented T&L 453 and 473 course change requests and Elementary Education change in program requirements request (reduce general education credits from 48 to 39 as required by the University) and moved approval of all.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11. Judy Bruce presented Elementary Education change in program requirements (reduce number of introductory courses from seven to two). Judy Bruce moved to table the request pending clarification and then the committee will take action through e-mail. Upon receiving clarification of the request an e-mail vote was taken and the request was approved.

 

12. The meeting adjourned at 5:00.
