Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

January 23, 2003

 

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Thursday, January 23, in Room 305, Twamley Hall. Doug Marshall presided.

 

2. Those present were Connie Borboa, Rick Brown, Judy Bruce, Mary Drewes, Daniel Erickson, Sara Hanhan, Jim Haskins, Nancy Krogh, Evelyn Labun, Doug Marshall, David Perry, and Ralph Woehle.

 

3. Jim Haskins moved to approve the minutes from the December 12 meeting. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

4. Jim Haskins moved to remove the Master of Music change in program requirements requests from the table.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

Judy Bruce presented MMus Music Composition Specialization; MMus Performance or Pedagogy Specialization; MMus Choral Conducting Specialization; MMus Instrumental Conducting Specialization change in program requirements requests. Judy Bruce moved to approve all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

5. Doug Marshall presented the B.S. in Nursing change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously. 

 

6. Doug Marshall presented the change in program requirements request for all degree programs within the College of Arts & Sciences and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

7. Doug Marshall presented Mgmt 410 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

8. Doug Marshall presented RELS 100 new course request and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

9. Doug Marshall presented RELS 116 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

10. Judy Bruce presented Mechanical Engineering change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously. 

 

11. Judy Bruce presented ME 541 course deletion request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

12. Judy Bruce presented the Teaching and Learning Elementary/Child Study option title change and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried with one abstention.

 

13. Rick Brown from the College of Nursing and Daniel Erickson presented the Nurse Anesthesia Specialization change in program requirements and Nurs 507, 517, 520, 527, 530, and 597 course change requests. Daniel Erickson moved approval of all the requests.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

14. Daniel Erickson presented Nurs 535, 555, 560, 562, 565, 576, and 586 course change requests.

 

Daniel Erickson moved to table Nurs 535, 555, 560, 562, 565 and 576 course change requests pending additional information.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

Daniel Erickson moved to approve Nurs 586 course change request and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

15. David Perry, Rehabilitation and Human Services Program, presented the Rehabilitation and Human Services change in program requirements request.  Ralph Woehle moved to approve the request.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

16. David Perry presented RHS 499 new course request.  Ralph Woehle moved to approve the request.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

17. Ralph Woehle presented T&L 311 course change request and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

18. Jim Haskins presented the BS in Physical Education change in program requirements request, PEXS 107 and 324 course deletion requests, PEXS 326, 375, 376, and 426 new course requests, and PEXS 402 and 404 course change requests. Jim Haskins moved to approval all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously. The Committee had grave concerns about the resources needed to support this program, especially Option C, and asked their concerns be conveyed to the Provost. 

 

19. Doug Marshall presented BSEE/MS in Electrical Engineering and BSEE/MEngr in Electrical Engineering change in program requirements request. Jim Haskins moved to approve the request.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

20. Doug Marshall presented EE 503 course change request and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

21. Doug Marshall presented EE 519 course change request and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

22. Doug Marshall presented EE 509 course change request.  Jim Haskins moved to table the request pending further information.  The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

23. The meeting adjourned at 5:45.
