Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

November 21, 2002

 

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Thursday, November 21, in Room 305, Twamley Hall. Daniel Erickson presided.

 

2. Those present were Connie Borboa, Judy Bruce, Mary Drewes, Daniel Erickson,  Evelyn Labun, Chuck Moretti, Rebecca Phillips, George Seielstad, Cynthia Shabb, and Ralph Woehle.

 

3. Ralph Woehle moved to approve the minutes from the November 14 meeting. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

4. Daniel Erickson, George Seielstad, and Rebecca Phillips presented the Master of Environmental Management in Earth System Science and Policy new academic program request; Master of Science in Earth System Science and Policy new academic program request; Doctor of Philosophy in Earth System Science and Policy new academic program request; ESSP 301, 302, 510, 501R, 501L, 502, 502R, 502L, 406/506, 520, 540, 462/562, 470/570, 584, 590, 591, 599, 996, 997, 998, 999 new course requests. Daniel Erickson moved to approve all of the requests with the following proviso: compliance with the Graduate School procedural memorandum and reaction letters from affected departments for new courses are received by the Registrar's office. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

During discussion ESSP 301 and 302 were withdrawn from the package and the undergraduate/graduate numbered courses (406/506, 462/562, 470/570) were only approved at the graduate level.

  

5. Judy Bruce presented the title change for the PhD and EdD Teaching and Learning major offered through the Teaching and Learning Department and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously. 

 

6. Chuck Moretti presented the ChE 435 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

7. Chuck Moretti presented the EE 507 new course request and moved approval with the proviso Electrical Engineering has sent the new course request to the Space Studies Department for comment. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

8. Evelyn Labun presented CLS 514 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

 

9. The meeting adjourned at 5:35.
