Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

December 17, 2009

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Thursday, December 17 in the Carnegie Hall Conference Room. Liz Tyree presided. Those present were Suzanne Anderson, Connie Borboa, Kate Campbell, Paul Drechsel, Connie Gagelin, Bonni Gourneau, Jeremiah Neubert, Mary Riske, and Liz Tyree. Guests: Judy Hall, John La Duke.

2. Minutes November 12. Connie Gagelin moved to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

3. Judy Hall and Liz Tyree presented Dietetics change in program requirements

request; Community Nutrition change in program requirements request; Nutrition minor

change in program requirements request; N&D 200 course deletion request; N&D 220,

241, 242, 342, 348, 440, 498 course change requests; N&D 330, 341 new course

requests. Liz Tyree moved to approve all the requests. The motion was seconded, voted

upon and carried unanimously.

4. John La Duke and Jeremiah Neubert presented B.S., B.A. and Minor in Environmental Studies new program requests; ENVR 310, 320, 330, 450 and 497 new course requests. Connie Gagelin moved to approve all of the requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

5. Liz Tyree presented Nursing 573 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

6. Mary Riske presented Linguistics 580 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

7. Paul Drechsel presented Math 112, 330, 400, 431, 432, 435, 461 course change requests; Math 327, 450, 462, 465, course deletion requests; Math 207, 217, 488 new course requests; B.S. in Mathematics change in program requirements request; Mathematics minor change in program requirements request and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

Concern was expressed regarding the deletion of upper level math classes and the affect this has on Engineering students.

8. Kate Campbell presented Theatre Arts 243 new course request and Theatre Arts 342 course change request and moved to table the requests.

9. Bonni Gourneau presented Sociology change in program requirements and Soc 475 new course request and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

10. The next UCC meeting will be Thursday, January 14, at 3:30 p.m.

11. The meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
