Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

 

February 12, 2007

 

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Monday, February 12, 2007, Carnegie Hall, Room 102.  David Relling presided. Those present were Suzanne Anderson, Connie Borboa, Matt Cavalli, Connie Gagelin, Devon Hansen, Roxanne Hurley, John LaDuke, Assion Lawson-Body, Kathleen McLennan, Martha Potvin, David Relling, Dan Rice, Charlie Robertson and Sandra Short.

 

2. February 5 minutes. Roxanne Hurley moved to approve the February 5 minutes. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

3. David Relling moved to alter the agenda. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

John LaDuke, Kathleen McLennan, Martha Potvin and Dan Rice presented information on Theatre Arts 240, 241, 242, 340, 341, and 342 new course requests. Connie Gagelin moved to approve the new course requests. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

4. David Relling presented Linguistics 506 and 530 course change requests and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

5. David Relling presented Space Studies 425 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

David Relling presented Space Studies 519 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention. 

 

6. David Relling presented Electrical Engineering 512, 539 and 550 new course requests and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

7. Biol 505, 505L, 506, 506L, 507, 507L new course requests; Math 576, 577, 578, 579 new course requests; Chem 561, 561L, 562, 562L 563, 563L new course requests.  David Relling moved to table all of the requests and invite department representatives to the next meeting for discussion. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

8. Assion Lawson-Body presented EFR 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 507 and 508 course change requests.  Connie Gagelin moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

9. Matt Cavalli presented Electrical Engineering change in program requirements request and moved to table the request pending receipt of department letters. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

10. Matt Cavalli presented Chemical Engineering change in program requirements requests and moved to table the requests pending receipt of course change paperwork. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

11. Matt Cavalli presented six Mechanical Engineering change in program requirements requests and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

Matt Cavalli presented ME 101, 201, 213, 322, 324, 342, 370, 416, 426, 464, 474, 477, 487 course change requests and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

12. Roxanne Hurley presented RHS 200 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

Roxanne Hurley presented Rehabilitation and Human Services change in program requirements request and moved to table. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

13. Roxanne Hurley presented B.S. in Community Nutrition change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

Roxanne Hurley presented N&D 200 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

Roxanne Hurley presented B.S. in Dietetics change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

14. Roxanne Hurley presented Theatre arts 272, 371, 372, and 471 course change requests and moved approval of all.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

15. Devon Hansen presented Geog 319L new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

16. Devon Hansen presented Geog 474 course change request and Geog 474L new course request and moved approval of both. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

17. Devon Hansen presented Bachelor of Music with a major in Music Therapy change in program requirements request and moved approval.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried with one abstention.

 

18. Devon Hansen presented BMB 303 course deletion request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

19. Sandra Short presented PXW 104, 105, 107, 108, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 124, 125, 127, 128, 131, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 144, 145, 147, 148, 151, 152, 153, 154, 155, 156, 157, 158, 224, 225, 227, 228, 231, 232, 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, 299, 424, 425, 427, 428, 431, 432, 433, 434, 435, 436, 437 new course requests;  PXW 205, 276, 305, 325, 326, 327, 332, 341, 355, 385,  397, 401, 402, 404, 440, 455, 480, 485, 486, 487, 495 course change requests; and B.S. with a major in Physical Education, Exercise Science and Wellness change in program requirements.  Roxanne Hurley moved to approve all of the requests.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

20. Charlie Robertson presented major and minor in English change in program requirements requests; Engl 225, 271, 272, 308, 320, 321, 322, 330, 331, 332, 369, 408 course change requests; Engl 372, 227 new course requests; Engl 221, 222, 224 course deletion requests and moved approval of all.  The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

21. Sandra Short moved to remove B.S. Social Work change in program requirements from the table. Sandra Short presented the request and moved to approve it. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

 

22. The meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
