Minutes of the University Curriculum Committee

December 12, 2002

1. A meeting of the University Curriculum Committee was held on Thursday, December 12, in Room 305, Twamley Hall. Doug Marshall presided.

2. Those present were Connie Borboa, Judy Bruce, Mary Drewes, Jim Haskins, Nancy Krogh, Evelyn Labun, Doug Marshall, and Ralph Woehle.

3. Ralph Woehle moved to approve the minutes from the November 21 meeting. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

4. Judy Bruce presented AtSc 570 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

5. Judy Bruce presented Musc 508 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon and carried unanimously.

6. Judy Bruce presented Musc 570 and 580 course change requests and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

7. Judy Bruce presented MMus Music Composition Specialization; MMus Performance or Pedagogy Specialization; MMus Choral Conducting Specialization; MMus Instrumental Conducting Specialization change in program requirements requests. Jim Haskins moved to table all of the requests until additional information is received. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

8. Ralph Woehle presented the Early Childhood Education change in program requirements request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

9. Ralph Woehle presented the Master of Social Work change in program requirements request; SWk 522 526, 534, 580, 581, 582, 583, 584, 585, 586, 587, 588 new course requests; SWk 510, 511, 512, 513, 514, 520, 523, 524, 525, 535, 536, 547 course change requests; SWk 521, 531, 561, 583, 584, 585, 586, 587, 588 course deletions and moved approval of all. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

The 580-series numbers were changed to 570s.

10. Ralph Woehle presented the Masters of Public Administration program requirements change and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

11. Evelyn Labun presented Nurs 230, 288, 328, 383, 384, 385, 385C, 386, 386C, 387, 387C, 397, 448, 481, 481C, 484, 488 course change requests. Evelyn Labun moved to approve all of the requests and asked the Office of the Registrar to contact the Nursing Department requesting appropriate wording for the academic catalog. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

12. Evelyn Labun presented the BS in Mechanical Engineering change in program requirements form. This request should have been submitted as a course change request. Evelyn Labun moved approval of the request subject to Mechanical Engineering submitting the course change request form to the Office of the Registrar. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

13. Evelyn Labun presented SPST 425 course change request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

14. Evelyn Labun presented SPST 560 new course request and moved approval. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

15. Evelyn Labun presented SPST 998 new course request and the MS in Space Studies change in program requirements request. Evelyn Labun moved approval of the requests with the stipulation that the Provost be made aware of the possible resource issues. The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

16. Jim Haskins presented the MA/MS in Geography change in program requirements request; Geog 501, 521, 551 course change requests; Geog 541 new course request; and Geog 595 course deletion request and moved approval of all of the requests.

The motion was seconded, voted upon, and carried unanimously.

17. The meeting adjourned at 5:30.
