Practical
Information about ACN
Computer
System at ACN
Facilities
The
school installed a new computer system during
the 1999-2000 academic year. The computer facilities
include student terminals in the 1st floor computer
lab and smaller group rooms on the 3rd floor of
the main school. All of these computers are networked
to the central computer server, and all have Internet
access.
The
system operates on Windows 2000, and applications
are primarily Microsoft Office based programs.
If you currently use Macintosh applications or
other PC based applications (such as WordPerfect)
and want to bring files for use at ACN, you are
advised to convert these files to MS/Windows based
files, or to bring the files in RTF format. Please
contact ACN if you need further information about
file conversion and file compatibility.
Each
student has 50MB of password-protected storage
on the server. An expansion of this area can be
requested from the system administrator.
Printing
There
are black and white laser printers available for
student use in the first floor computer lab, and
on the third floor. For a fee you may print in
color at the ink jet printer in the administrative
offices. You can also print on overhead transparencies
(black and white, or color), which can be purchased
from the administration.
Computing
Facilities in the Classroom
In
the main classroom on the second floor, there
is a networked computer, with internet access.
This computer is linked to a daylight projector,
which can be used for computer and video projections.
Students and faculty are encourage to use these
tools as an integrated part of lectures and presentations.
