ODIN User Guide: Author Search

Use the Author Search to find works created by a specific person. The author search will also find editors, composers, arrangers and performers.

Select the Author radio button from the basic search screen
or select Author from the drop-down menu on the advanced search screen.
You must enter the author's last name. If you aren't sure how to spell it, you can use truncation and wildcards for spelling variations.
Enter the name in the format last-name first-name middle-initial. If you don't know the first name or middle initial, enter the last name and as much as you do know of the rest.
You can use punctuation, but you don't need to.
You can use upper or lower case.

Use the Author Search to find works created by corporate authors, performing groups, conference and other author groups.

Select the Author radio button from the basic search screen
or select Author from the drop-down menu on the advanced search screen.
Enter the name of the organization or group. If you don't know the entire name, enter as much as you do know.
Do not include these words: by, for, in, of, on, to, the.
Use truncation and wild cards for spelling variations.
Use boolean operators AND, OR, NOT to combine words.
You can use upper or lower case.

Enter:	To search for works by:
byrds	Byrds
american medical association	American Medical Association
university of north dakota	University of North Dakota

You can view a list of authors before and after a search term in the alphabet.

Select the Browse the Index radio button on the advanced search screen.
Select Author from the drop-down menu.
Enter last-name first-name middle-initial. If you don't know the entire name, enter as much as you do know.
