Book Plates

 

General

Books are sometimes donated to the library with a request to include a book plate. In some cases, the donation includes funds to purchase book plates. Notes indicating that book should be plated are included on the Acquisitions Records. Book plates are placed, centered, inside the front cover. See also Special notations

    Special funds or projects

    Some special projects or funds specify a book plate. The ABC Dept. Head will also determine if collection information on the bibliographic record is appropriate.

    The order record "Library note" should give book plate information.

    Catalogers will create 561 and 710 information if determined by the ABC Dept. Head. see: Special notations

    For large collections special book plates may be ordered through Admin. For small collections, use local template to create collection-specific book plates.
