She was a stenographer at the Seed Loan Office in St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1935-1937, and at the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C., from 1937 to 1939. She married Mart R. Vogel in 1939.
The couple moved to Fargo, North Dakota, where Mart Vogel was appointed Assistant U.S. Attorney. Lois Vogel was involved in the League of Women Voters, and became interested in constitutional reform. She led the Statewide Study of Constitutional Memory, as well as the Constitutional Research and Investigation Committee. This committee conducted a state study program on constitutional revision. In 1970, Vogel was elected as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention from the 21st District. She was also elected Convention Secretary and a member of the Committee on Executive Functions.
In 1981, Lois Vogel won the State Bar Association of North Dakotas Liberty Bell Award, which is presented to persons who have given outstanding service to the state.
