INTRODUCTION

ACQUISITION: This addition to the Usher L. Burdick Papers was deposited in the Orin G. Libby Manuscript Collection by Eugene Burdick, Williston, North Dakota, on November 8, 1985 (Acc.#85-1419).

ACCESS: Available for inspection under the rules and regulations of the Department of Special Collections.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

Series I, business correspondence, deals with the Williston Ranch, Burdick's law office and Burdick's political career. Correspondence from Milo Scherer and Dwight I. Todd are included.

Series II includes historical research. Material in this series focuses on the early history of North Dakota including research on the Marquis de Mores and Major James McLaughlin.

Series III folders contain miscellaneous items, including speeches, memorabilia, news-clippings and autobiographical data.

Series IV consists mainly of financial records and property documents. The financial records include papers of bills as well as his personal accounts. One folder of correspondence is also included.
