| Publish - FTP your Files | Intro * Text * Graphics * Links * Preview * Publish |
Once you have created your web pages, you will need to make them public ("publish") by transferring ("ftp") them from your computer to the student web server. Be sure to keep a copy of your files on your computer or on diskette. These instructions are for WS_FTP for Windows and Fetch for the Macintosh which are available on-line at http://itss.und.edu/software.html, choose Download UND Software.
WS_FTP for Windows:

Enter the following into the Session Properties:
Profile Name: A name of your choosing for these settings Host Name/Address: uweb.und.nodak.edu Host Type: Leaave at Automatic Detect. User ID: Enter your user name, e.g. jw.doe2 Click OK. |

Enter your password and click OK. |

Once connected to the server, the files on the pc (local system) will
be on the left side of the screen. Folders and files on the server are
on the right side of the screen.
Change directories on the local system to locate your web files. |

Double-click the public_html folder to change to the directory to transfer your web files to. |

To transfer one file, double click it, or click once to highlight and click the arrow pointing the direction to transfer (e.g. right arrow to transfer from local system to remote site). |

To transfer multiple files, select a group of files by using the shift+click or ctrl+click method. Once the files are selected, click the arrow pointing the direction to transfer. |
Fetch for Macintosh:

Start Fetch. Enter the following in the New Connection window:
Host: uweb.und.nodak.edu User ID: your login/userid (e.g. jw.doe2) Password: your password Click OK |

A list of folders will display. Click the public_html folder to change directory. |

Once you are in the webpublic_html folder, click the "Put files..." button. |

Locate and select the files to be transferred. Click Open. |

The "Choose format for uploaded files" dialog box will appear. Click OK. |

The files have now been transferred to the server. |
