There are two ways for you to use this tutorial:

You may print the entire tutorial and then use the printed tutorial to assist in the development of your Web page. To print this tutorial you:

Place the mouse over the Netscape Navigator button on your taskbar and click the left mouse button to maximize the program.

In the “Netsite:” window enter http://www.und.edu/dept/CC/uweb/pctutor and press the enter key.

Select File from the menu toolbar. Then select Print. You have printed the first file of the tutorial.

To start your tutorial on the development of a Web Page, open your Netscape Composer and follow the steps detailed on the pages that you have printed.

You may follow this tutorial while you are developing your Web Page by running both Netscape Navigator and Netscape Composer and splitting your screen. To run both programs you:

WINDOWS:

Since you are viewing this page using Netscape Navigator (the opening screen says Netscape Communicator), we will leave Netscape Navigator running and start Netscape Composer.

Select File on the menu toolbar, click on New, and then select Blank Page. You now have Netscape Composer running on top of Netscape Navigator. Now to get both pages on the screen at the same time.

Place your mouse over the Windows taskbar and press the right mouse button. A pop-up menu will appear. Select Tile Windows Horizontally or Tile Windows Vertically. Either will work, select the one you like best. You now can see both programs at the same time on the desktop.

Click the left mouse button in either window. Notice that the top banner (the ribbon that has the program’s name and the file or web page address) of the window where you click the left mouse button just turned dark blue (if you have changed your desktop colors this will change to the color that you have selected). The window with the dark blue ribbon is the active window and this is the window where you may work. You may switch back and fourth by simply clicking in the desired window.

Macintosh:

Place your mouse over the resize window, click & drag the window to a smaller size if needed.

Position the windows so you see both at the same time or so you can see a portion of each & click on the window to bring it to the front when needed.
