VPN Client Software Instructions For UND

Download the client software from the ITSS Help Desk at:

http://www.und.edu/dept/itss/vpn.html

Double click on the setup file and follow the instructions.

With XP you may get a message stating that the deterministic network enhancer has not password the Windows XP compatibility test. Please click “continue anyway”.

You will be asked to reboot your system.

After reboot, launch the VPN dialer from Start/Programs/Cisco Systems VPN Client

Click the new button to create a new connection.

Create a new connection named UND and click next.

You will be asked the IP address of the server. Enter 134.129.203.10 and click next.

A group access window will come up. Enter the group name UND (all caps) and the group password. (Contact UND Help Desk for password 777-2222). Click Save.

You will be returned to the dialer window and now you will have an entry called UND in the connection window. Click connect and you should see the following:

Contacting the gateway at 134.129.203.10

Authenticating user…

A new window will come up asking for a username and password. Enter your entire UMAIL username (including the @und.nodak.edu) and password in the window and click OK.

You should now be connected to the VPN. Access to UND resources will now be accessed through the VPN tunnel and internet sites will still be accessible through your network connection.
