VPN Client Software Instructions For ConnectND

If you currently have VPN installed on your PC, setup will detect the existing version and will uninstall it for you.  Your current settings will also be transferred to the new version so you do not have to configure the software after the install.

  1. Download the client software from the ITSS Help Desk web page:

http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/itss/help.html

  1. Double click the setup file and follow the instructions.

  1. With XP you may get a message stating that the deterministic network enhancer has not passed the Windows XP compatibility test.  Please click “continue anyway”.

  1. You will be asked to reboot your system.

Open the VPN client from Start – Programs – Cicsco Systems VPN Client and check your settings.  If there are no settings listed you will need to create a new connection:

5.      Click the new button to create a new connection.

6.      In the Connection Entry field enter ConnectND

7.      For the Description field enter ConnectND

8.      For the Host field enter the IP address of the server (csvpn.und.nodak.edu).

9.      Group Authentication should be selected

a.       For the Name field enter ConnectND (case sensitive).

b.      For the Password enter the group password (if you have not been given the group password, please contact the Help Desk).

c.       Click Save.

You will be returned to the VPN Client window and now you will have a Connection Entry called ConnectND in the connection window, double click this entry to connect.

The User Authentication window will come up asking for a username and password. Enter your CITRIX username and password in the window and click ok.

That’s it! You are now connected to the VPN, access to ConnectND  resources will now be accessed through the VPN tunnel and Internet sites will still be accessible through your network connection.
