How do I install Office 2007 on university-owned computers?
- Department Software Contacts should purchase the required licenses.
- ITSS staff (Desktop Support) can install Office 2007. Submit a Help Desk Ticket 7-2222 to request installation of application.
- If the free evaluation version of Office 2007 was installed on your computer, it must be removed (uninstalled) before installing the licensed version.
What is the difference between Office 2007 and Windows Vista?
- Windows Vista is the operating system used to run programs on your computer. Operating systems commonly used at NDSU include Windows XP, Macintosh OS X and Linux. The purchase of Windows Vista does not include Office 2007. Windows Vista is not currently supported by ITS.
- Office 2007 is a suite of programs -- Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access -- commonly used for business and academic tasks. The purchase of Office 2007 does not include Windows Vista.
- Office 2007 will run on Windows XP or Windows Vista operating systems.
How is Office 2007 different from Office 2003?

- ITSS discourages running multiple versions of the same software on the same PC. Not only does this take extra disk space, but compatibility problems can arise.
- Users who have downloaded/installed the evaluation version of Office 2007 will need to remove it before installing the licensed version.
Do I need the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack?
- The Office 2007 Compatibility Pack is not needed once Office 2007 is installed. The Compatibility Pack is only required for users of Office 2003 who wish to open and edit documents in the new file format used by Office 2007.

Can I create Acobat/PDF files using Office 2007?
- Office 2007 users who wish to create PDFs directly from Office 2007 applications can download a free plug-in that allows them to “Save as” PDF file. Click here to download the plug-in from Microsoft.
- Users of Acrobat Standard and Professional will no longer have the toolbar buttons to create PDFs, but they can still choose “Adobe PDF” or "Adobe Acrobat" as a "printer" (under printing options) to create an Acrobat document.
