Telecommunications has tentatively scheduled November 5th and 6th, 2002, for the 2-day training course for new Telephone Counselors. The course is lead by one the consultants from JTM Assoc. and is designed to give counselors an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the UND telephone and voice mail systems and features and how to use the knowledge to enhance working environments within individual departments. This training is also open to any other counselors who have previously attended, but may want to refresh their knowledge on any portion of the course. More information will be sent to counselors at a later date.
The department of Telecommunications merged with Information Technology Systems and Services as of July 1st. University departments should experience little change with the merger. Offices will remain in the Carnegie Building, ground floor, and Telecommunications will offer the same services for telephone, voice mail, long distance, video, teleconferencing, installation and repair to academic, administrative and student areas at UND with most of the same staff with whom you have become familiar. Rich Lehn, the former Director of Telecommunications, has been hired full-time as a project manager for the Connect ND Project. One goal of the merger will be to provide "one-stop shopping" for departmental requests for telephone and data services.
