It's never too late to update your computer skills!! The training is free to all faculty, staff, and student employees! It doesn't come with any guarantees, but you will receive a certificate upon completion. Over 700 individuals utilized workshops offered during the July 2000 to June 2001 time frame. We hope to continue to be your choice of computer training in the year to come.
The 2001/2002 school year should herald some changes in the office productivity workshop schedule. We will continue to offer Microsoft Office Professional 2000 and WordPerfect 9 courses in our training schedule. We will also explore integrating Windows 2000 and Office XP into the training line-up. Courses include Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Access 2000, Excel 2000, Word 2000, and WordPerfect 9, as well as Beginning and Intermediate PowerPoint 2000. Courses will be offered in conjunction with the Graduate School on Theses & Dissertations for both Word and WordPerfect. Courses on Mail, E-mail, Web Browser, HTML, and Main Frame interface such as PageCenter and TSO round out the schedule. We continue to use training manuals from New Horizons© as the basis for Office 2000 and WordPerfect 9 courses.

Course books are available for most office productivity classes and are highly recommended. A course book allows each student to follow the current course curriculum and provides a handy resource so they can review and practice on their own. Class files are provided for skill practice. The books can also be used as a reference within departments. The books cover the necessary skills to attain certification as a Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) in that program.
The course training books also are an excellent self-paced training resource for those who find the course schedules inconvenient. Each training book is written in modular learning blocks that introduce users to related concepts and exercises. Each module has objectives and practical exercises that can be accomplished in sequence or independently. Exercise files are provided with the books to reinforce and strengthen your understanding of the lesson block. The modules are presented in a format designed for all types of users. Call Amy Noeldner at 777-2128 to purchase books.
Training materials can also be checked out from the Chester Fritz Library. The most current materials encompass Windows 98 and Office 97. Contact the Library for details or see our User Notes #G2. View this reference at http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/CC/Usernotes/UserNoteG2.htm
