TSO - Time Sharing Option

by

Rose Keeley

The Time Sharing Option (TSO) allows multiple users to log onto the MVS operating system on the UND administrative host computer to execute programs (both interactive and batch), manage output, and use other resources. Training for TSO started in March of 1998 and it has been in active use since then. The current release of the Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) is 4.4. A TSO USER ID and password is necessary to access the system. A TSO USER ID REQUEST FORM FOR ADMINISTRATIVE HOST form is available in the Computer Center Office, Upson II, Room 366.

The TSO URL: http://www.und.edu/dept/CC/tsoinfo/ has all the available training handouts, basic form and page definitions, and current tips. If you have any questions or tips you would like to contribute to the web site please let me know.

The next TSO training session will be Monday, March 15 at 1:00 in Upson II, Room 361. We will cover using the Parmcard Rexx exec which allows the user to submit one or more parameter cards continuously. Using FTP to upload and/or download data sets from the host computer will be covered. We will also cover what you need to do while editing a data set and ready to save and exit when you get SYSTEM ABEND 'OD37' error message. The abend code in the message could also be B37 or E37. If there are any additional subjects you would like covered please let me know.
