Spring 2003 marks the end of a successful startup semester and the beginning of many more to come. UnipriNT is up and running and our first semester using the new printing management software was a success.
The feedback has been positive and the costs have already gone down in just one semester.
With a culmination of effort across campus we were able to purchase and implement UnipriNT over the Summer Semester 2002. Jim Schafer, Interim CIO and Jon Lovseth, Student Body President will co-chair a UnipriNT sub-committee that will review applications from those departments interested in utilizing the software. This will allow for system expansion across the campus a little at a time.
UnipriNT is currently running at our general purpose computing facilities located at the Memorial Union and Chester Fritz Library as well as throughout the library itself. The software monitors the use of printers, allows a student to cancel unwanted print jobs and ultimately minimizes waste.
How does it work? Bring your ID card to either location, send a print job to the printer, walk to the release station, swipe your card, find your job, click to print and then click logoff. All you need is your campus ID card and a little money. Students are given 200 printouts each semester from the Student Technology Fee Committee. Once they've used them, they need to add money to their ID card. Faculty and Staff need to have money on their cards at all times, to print.
Stop by and check it out.
