New Student Computer Lab and Help Center

Fall Semester 1999 brought about new changes for the Computer Center. The highlights consisted of a new Student Computer Lab and a newly remodeled Help Center. To implement these changes to the campus, an Open House was given November 3, 1999 from 10 am - 3 pm. If you have ever called our Help Center or used one of our Computer Labs this was a great time to see the changes we've made. Of course, members of the University Community are always welcome anytime.

Refreshments were served and door prizes were given away. The overall turnout was great! We were honored as President, Charles Kupchella and Student Body President, Chris Semaru, together, cut the ribbon and unveiled the newly renovated lower level of the Memorial Union. A big thank you goes out to the Memorial Union for co-hosting this event with us.

When you stop by the lab you will see many new and exciting improvements. The previous computer labs, which existed in three separate rooms on the second floor of the Memorial Union, have been consolidated into one centralized location in the lower level.

You will still find two labs (one Macintosh and one Windows) that can be reserved for instruction, but you will also see an open cluster area that is available on a first come first serve basis. The instruction labs are set up this way as well, unless they happen to be reserved. To reserve either lab, please call Tracy Uhlir at 777-3878.

Other improvements include: an overall increase in number of computers on both platforms, increased accessibility as well as a more personable working environment. Stop by and see us and try out the new facility!

The lab is staffed by Student Lab Assistants Monday thru Thursday - 8:00 am to 12:45 am, Friday 8:00 am to 10:45 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 10:45 pm and Sunday 12:00 noon to 12:45 am. The Computer Help Center is available Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, stop by or give them a call if you have questions 777-2222.
