U-mail Accounts Extended to Faculty and Staff

Fall 1998 was the first semester that U-mail accounts were made available to students at UND. Faculty and staff may now activate U-mail accounts. U-mail is used in place of badlands, plains, and prairie accounts. An advantage of  this system is that it is IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol). This means that the mail is stored on the server (the UNIX host) but by using IMAP software you are able to access the mail using a graphical (point & click) interface, even in a computer lab type setting.  Accessing this e-mail requires special software (IMAP or POP) such as Mulberry, Netscape Mail, Eudora, or Outlook Express. Since the e-mail address doesn't have a UNIX account associated with it you can't telnet or ftp to it.

If you are full-time benefitted faculty or staff AND have received a paycheck in the most recent payroll, you may activate your account by going to: http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/CC/email.html. If you are part-time you will need to stop by the Computer Center at Upson II, room 366 and complete a form.
